  abstract = {Collaborative work is characterized by frequently changing situations and corresponding demands for tool support and interaction behavior provided by the collaboration environment. Current approaches to address these changing demands include manual tailoring by end-users and automatic adaptation of single user tools or for individual users. Few systems use context as a basis for adapting collaborative work environments, mostly focusing on document recommendation and awareness provision. In this paper we present, firstly, a generic four layer framework for modeling context in a collaboration environment, secondly, a generic adaptation process translating user activity into state, deriving context for a given focus, and executing adaptation rules on this context, thirdly, a collaboration domain model for describing collaboration environments and collaborative situations, and, fourthly, examples of exploiting our approach to support context-based adaptation in four typical collaboration situations: co-location, co-access, co-recommendation, and co-dependency.}

This article aims at sensitizing and systematizing the needs and potentials for continuous knowledge flow and community engagement in this application area. It starts with an analysis of typical development activities and involved parties that could benefit from a continuous knowledge management support. Then, a general framework architecture and implementation examples are presented that provide different levels of knowledge management support for interactive entertainment development.},

  abstract = {Understanding relationships and commonalities between digital contents based on metadata is a difficult user task that requires sophisticated presentation forms. In this paper, we describe an advanced graph visualization that supports users with these activities. It reduces several problems of common graph visualizations and provides a specific chain arrangement of nodes that facilitates visual tracking of relationships. We present a concrete implementation for the exploration of relationships between images based on shared tags. An evaluation with a comparative user study shows good performance results on several dimensions. We therefore conclude that the ChainGraph approach can be considered a serious alternative to common graph visualizations in situations where relationships and commonalities between contents are of interest. After a discussion of the limitations, we finally point to some application scenarios and future enhancements.},

  abstract = {Tag clouds have become a popular visualization and navigation interface on the Web. Despite their popularity, little is known about tag cloud perception and performance with respect to different user goals. This paper presents results from a comparative study of several tag cloud layouts. The results show differences in task performance, leading to the conclusion that interface designers should carefully select the appropriate tag cloud layout according to the expected user goals. Furthermore, the analysis of eye tracking data provides insights into the visual exploration strategies of tag cloud users.},
