Seminar: User-centred conversational recommender systems (winter 2023)

The seminar will address various design-related and technical aspects of creating conversational recommender systems that lead positive user experiences. With the increasing capabilities of natural language technologies, in particular large language models, there is an increasing interest in applications of conversational techniques for recommender systems in areas such as e-commerce, media distribution, or customer services. We will discuss the technical background and design aspects of conversational recommenders and also highlight method for evaluating them. As the literature used will mostly be in English, the seminar will also be held in English.
